Scrapbooking Journaling - Say it Your Way

There are as many styles of scrapbooking journaling as there are scrapbook enthusiasts who create the beautiful albums. While some scrappers limit their journaling to titles and dates, others like to tell a more in-depth story about the events unfolding on the pages of their scrapbook. Some scrapbook themes, such as those surrounding an event like a wedding or the birth of a child come with preprinted pages where you can write in a lot of the details.

The way that you define your scrapbooking journaling may be different for each scrapbook you create. There is no right or wrong way to handle this aspect of the hobby, thank goodness. It is all up to you! Just keep in mind that future generations will most likely prize the scrapbooks that contain your personal handwriting the most. Therefore, even if you include fancy computer fonts in your titles and captions, try to ensure that at least part of the journaling activities in the scrapbooks you create are written in your own hand.

If you don't think your handwriting is especially attractive or if it is difficult for you to write very much you may want to combine hand written journaling with computer journaling. There are many attractive fonts that scrapbook enthusiasts use to dress up their scrapbooks yet they also manage to include a few snippets of their own handwriting as well. In addition, there are some websites that, for a nominal fee, will let you turn your handwriting into a font. Many scrappers feel this is the best of both worlds because the font is a replica of their actual handwriting yet they don't have to actually hand write each and every message.

Of course, not every scrapbook enthusiast uses their computer in their scrapbooking activities, including scrapbooking journaling. Some scrappers are die hard traditionalists while others have embraced the art of digital scrapbooking with a passion. Many enjoy the best of both worlds and use certain digital aspects to create their mostly traditional scrapbooks.

It is important to use quality journaling pens when writing in your scrapbooks. This is not an area to cut corners because the quality of the pens will be reflected in your handwriting and you want your words to last indefinitely. It would be a good idea to do some research and find out what kinds of pens experienced scrappers recommend. You can find scrapbooking journaling pens in a variety of colors, sizes, and styles and you may find that you need an entire set for the different types of journaling you will do.
