Display Your Photos the Scrapbook Way

If you're anything like me you'll have lots of old photos hiding in drawers and cupboards that you haven't had the time to do anything with yet. Or worst still, the photos are long gone but you have hundreds of old negatives tucked away in storage and you have no idea what's on them. There are many places that will take your old negatives and convert them to digital files for you (check your local business directory). This will give you an opportunity to see what each photo is before you decide to print them out.

Scrapbooking your photos will allow you to display them in a style of your choosing. Long gone are the old and daggy photo albums that get hidden away in the hallway cupboard. Long gone are the photo albums arranged in chronological order. Scrapbooking allows you to arrange your photos in any way you choose, be it by theme, time period, or a mix and match of whatever takes your fancy. Some of the most popular themes are vacations, reunions, religious holidays, team events, birthdays, new arrivals, weddings; the list is virtually endless.

You can make individual scrapbooks for each theme or add different themed sections to a scrapbook. To help the themes stand out you can create a cover page for each theme and use the same colors and layout throughout that theme to keep it unified. When you take new photos you can get better organized for scrapbooking by sorting the photos into labeled envelopes. That way you'll have them on-hand and already themed for your next scrapbooking session. A themed scrapbook is much more enjoyable to look at than an old-fashioned photo album. You will be more eager to show visitors your photos when you know they look great. And your visitors will be amazed at how creative you are.

Scrapbooking Titles Set Off Your Page

Scrapbooks tell a story and scrapbooking titles are important so that the person looking through the book can tell at a glance what each page or section is about. With scrapbooking being so popular these days, you can find multiple lists online that contain lively or whimsical titles for the stories portrayed in your scrapbook.

Once you find the perfect scrapbooking titles for your pages then you can browse various scrapbooking fonts to make those titles stand out. Sometimes, just looking at other scrapbooks can provide the inspiration you need to come up with your own titles but if you need additional help there are lists and lists of titles online for you to peruse.

You may want to use a separate title for each page of your scrapbook and then use extra captions or titles for some of your photos or other images. For example, if your page title is "Baby's First Birthday," you may want to add a caption above a picture of baby tasting or playing with her birthday cake.

Many people like to include famous quotes in their scrapbooks. You can do an online search for famous quotes and come up with a wide variety from which to choose, from the eloquent sayings to the whimsical. If you are creating a scrapbook for someone who is graduating from high school or college, you may want to use one or more famous quotes for some of your scrapbooking titles. However, regardless of the theme of your scrapbook, there is more than likely a famous quote that would be appropriate.

If your scrapbook has anything at all to do with the subject of love, then you will find a wide array of love sayings and quotes to use as titles and captions. Many scrappers who create Valentine themed scrapbooks or wedding themed scrapbooks use famous love quotes and witty sayings in their scrapbooks. Combined with just the right font, the titles you use in your scrapbook can really make each page stand out and make a unique statement.

Take time when selecting your scrapbooking titles and choose the ones that will convey what the pictures and other embellishments on your scrapbooking pages are truly portraying. Of course, if your scrapbooking project is a digital one, you won't have any trouble changing the titles at any time but for traditional scrapbooks, you want to get it right the first time.

Scrapbooking Journaling - Say it Your Way

There are as many styles of scrapbooking journaling as there are scrapbook enthusiasts who create the beautiful albums. While some scrappers limit their journaling to titles and dates, others like to tell a more in-depth story about the events unfolding on the pages of their scrapbook. Some scrapbook themes, such as those surrounding an event like a wedding or the birth of a child come with preprinted pages where you can write in a lot of the details.

The way that you define your scrapbooking journaling may be different for each scrapbook you create. There is no right or wrong way to handle this aspect of the hobby, thank goodness. It is all up to you! Just keep in mind that future generations will most likely prize the scrapbooks that contain your personal handwriting the most. Therefore, even if you include fancy computer fonts in your titles and captions, try to ensure that at least part of the journaling activities in the scrapbooks you create are written in your own hand.

If you don't think your handwriting is especially attractive or if it is difficult for you to write very much you may want to combine hand written journaling with computer journaling. There are many attractive fonts that scrapbook enthusiasts use to dress up their scrapbooks yet they also manage to include a few snippets of their own handwriting as well. In addition, there are some websites that, for a nominal fee, will let you turn your handwriting into a font. Many scrappers feel this is the best of both worlds because the font is a replica of their actual handwriting yet they don't have to actually hand write each and every message.

Of course, not every scrapbook enthusiast uses their computer in their scrapbooking activities, including scrapbooking journaling. Some scrappers are die hard traditionalists while others have embraced the art of digital scrapbooking with a passion. Many enjoy the best of both worlds and use certain digital aspects to create their mostly traditional scrapbooks.

It is important to use quality journaling pens when writing in your scrapbooks. This is not an area to cut corners because the quality of the pens will be reflected in your handwriting and you want your words to last indefinitely. It would be a good idea to do some research and find out what kinds of pens experienced scrappers recommend. You can find scrapbooking journaling pens in a variety of colors, sizes, and styles and you may find that you need an entire set for the different types of journaling you will do.

Sports Scrapbook Theme

Summer time is here. That means baseball, tennis, getting ready for soccer as well as many other great sports that you and your kids might play. We as a generation have actually never been more active in sports and consuming so much sports entertainment so why don't we make a scrapbook dedicated to all the sports we and our kids love to play and watch. This article is about documenting your sports memories!

A sports scrapbook is one of the favorite themes among scrapbooking enthusiasts. While making your own scrapbook, you can feel the flush of energy and the fierce competitive momentum of a match when you layout and paste all the embellishments on your page. Unleash your energy and the sporty side of yourself!

In making your Sports Scrapbook start with your favorite sport. If you love tennis, then focus on this sport in your scrapbook. If you are an athletic person, and play several sports, it is a great idea to have one scrapbook for each sport. Remember though, only focus on one sport per scrapbook.

Start with the basic fundamentals of the sports. Information of who founded the sports, the different events of the game, which country it originated, how it became famous, who set the world record, or won some big championship, and of course, why you love the sport. Don't forget your favorite athlete and your team!

For the succeeding pages, express yourself and start playing with your scrapbook. In choosing pictures to post, have variations. Pictures of an athlete where one is tackling an opponent, an athlete taking a penalty, a coach calling for a time out, a referee blowing his whistle, or a photo of you standing at the hotdog stand. Together with your pictures, add captions and shout-outs commonly used at a game. How can you forget the "BOOs", the "YESs!", the "HURRAYs!" not to mention the "C'MONs ". This will add eloquence to your page intensifying the theme.

Add memorabilia if you have collected any. Attach ticket stubs of the games you watched, brochures of the hotels when you watched during the championship games, autographs of your favorite sports figure, limited edition napkins and stickers, team stickers, jersey replicas, newspaper clippings and other items you have gathered throughout the years.

Add significance to your scrapbook, include sports tradition of your family and the role it plays for all of you, cheers that have become the family's signature and don't forget to mention how it came to be, and describe how the sport bonds your family - as a team.

Your sports scrapbook will not only be fun, but informative as well! This is something you will be proud of, something you can pass on to the next generation. Someday, this will actually be a collector's item your grandson would love to have!

This will also encourage the younger generation in your family to start their own sports scrapbook while they are still young since many kids start off playing baseball, basketball, football in their own backyard. This way, the sports development of your kids can be documented through the scrapbook.

There are no fouls and penalties in making your own scrapbook. Always remember to have fun and play with your artistic side!

Scrapbook Themes - Give Your Album Some Flow

Scrapbooking starts when someone has a lot of pictures that he or she wants to organize in an eye-pleasing way. To do this, you can start creating pages on a whim and produce a random collection of photographs mounted on paper, or you can take the more effective approach and plan out a theme to your album. There are many album themes to consider when choosing the option that will best fit your needs.

The most often used theme for your album really isn't much of a theme at all--chronological order. Most beginning scrapbookers use this method of organization because it is convenient to use if you are trying to get all of your photographs out of boxes and into acid free albums. Chronological scrapbooks also make it easy to keep up with the album as you get new pictures developed. However, this is not the only type of album that can be created, and you should weigh all options before starting to scrapbook.

Consider creating a birthday or holiday album, which work especially well for scrapbookers with children. Rather than including pages with all your pictures throughout the year, choose one holiday and start an album with one layout for each year. The result will be a book that shows the progression of a child from year to year, and these make excellent graduation gifts or can become keepsakes as your children move out of the house. These are on-going projects, so you will need to devote many years to an album before it is complete.

Another theme that makes a beautiful album is people. This works nicely with the random pictures you may have that were not used in your chronological album. To make this kind of album, create one layout for each person, and show them throughout the years. Alternatively, if you take many pictures, you can create a single album all for one person. An album themed by people makes a good gift for someone with many grandchildren or for someone moving away from a group of friends.

However you chose to theme your album, think of its function before you start. Who will be looking at the album? Are you giving this album as a gift? What kind of pictures do you have available? Scrapbooking according to theme creates well-organized albums, and by choosing a theme before you start creating pages you can make an album that works well in your collection or as a gift.

Organising Digital Scrapbook Supplies to Use in Themed Albums and Projects

One of the most beautiful and thoughtful gifts someone can receive is a scrapbook album. Despite the simplicity of giving the gift of a digital scrapbook album, they can still be time consuming to create. It helps if you have a thought out and organised approach to your project, and then you can enjoy the process of creation, rather than scrambling about looking for that perfect element.

Smaller projects, like brag books or albums about single events, such as birthday parties, a wedding or Christmas, look better if they have a consistent feel from start to finish. The obvious way to achieve this is to use one kit, as the colours of the paper should compliment the elements. One major problem with this is that often one kit may only contain one or two versions of an element, such as ribbons or frames. Not only do multiple pages created from one kit look repetitive rather than matching, the creator will often become bored from using the same kit.

The key is the spend a little bit of time planning ahead. If you don't, you may find that on each page your project will evolve and change as you bring in new elements and papers, to the point where the end page does not resemble the start page at all. Although this looks like a lot of work, all up it should not take more than an hour, and will save you many more hours once you are actually scrapping.

1. Decide on your colour scheme: look at your photos and don't immediately dismiss the obvious. Pastel pink or blue albums are classic and timeless, even though they are predictable choices for a baby album. It will also be easy to find baby themed kits in those colours. A good guide is to pick one 'anchor' colour, such as black, white or brown, and 3 other complimentary colours. Use a colour wheel if you need inspiration.

2. Look through your stash, especially focusing on kits or pieces you repeatedly use. Look at collections of masks or frames, and 'bundles' you have bought that contain clusters, alphas or word arts that coordinate with the kit. If you use an organiser, tag them. If not, just copy them into another folder. Make sure you copy them, and do not move them. When the project is finished you can then delete this folder to free up some space.

3. You will have collected a basic kit that should have a matching feel to it. Have a good look through it, thinking about your project and the way you scrap. Is there a good variety of frames? Is there a nice mix of plain and patterned papers? Do the leaves match the flowers? Also, have you included a few finishing touches, like buttons or sparkles? Write a short list of what is missing.

4. The fun part- hitting the shops! If you are looking for something specific, post an 'In Search Of' thread in your favourite forum and let your fellow scrappers help you out. Visit your favourite shops, or if your own 'collaboration kit' that you have assembled focuses heavily on one or two designers, head straight to their stores to see what else they have on offer.

5. Once you have compiled your perfect kit, it is then time to get scrapping. From here, it is simply a matter of going straight to your folder or bringing up your tagged album and selecting a paper, framing or masking your photos, and adding elements, clusters and word arts around them.

Ideas For a Theme For a Scrapbook

Scrapbooking has been popular in America for over 10 years and in recent years it has become more and more popular around the world. If you are looking to start a new hobby then scrapbooking could be a good choice and you can create memories either for yourself or as presents for friends and family. If you are already into scrapbooking then here are some ideas to create a scrapbook:

A Holiday Album

You could create an album with photos and mementoes of your holiday - use things like tickets from journeys you took as well as holiday photos and items and receipts that you picked up while you are away. Particularly if the items are in a foreign language and are decorative and colourful, this can help the attractiveness and diversity of your album.

Wedding Album

You could create a scrapbook at a wedding reception if you come prepared. Take a portable printer and get each of the guests to pose at the reception. Print off each picture of the guests and add to a prepared album and get them to sign and write a note under their picture. You could also create an album as a memento of the day as a gift for the bride and groom. Use invitations, the order of service, pictures of the church etc plus maybe some confetti to add variety.

Pregnancy Scrapbook

You can include scan pictures, details of cravings and doctor appointments plus your thoughts and feelings, together with photos.

Family Tree Album

This could include pictures of your family as you go back in the generations and the links and relationships between everyone. You could use this so that your children have a record of their relatives going back as far as you can find. Try and get hold of some old black and white photos of your family and include ribbons to link each family member to each other.

Yearly Album

You can keep all of your tickets, photos, invites, receipts of memorable things that you have done in a year and make this into an album so that you can look back and know exactly what happened to you each year. It is so easy to forget once you get older! Or if you have relatives who live abroad that you don't see very often then you can have an album of what your family has done over the year to give to them as a Christmas present.

There are lots of ideas of what you can do with scrapbooking and these are just a few. If you have a special event or occasion coming up why not make it even more special by making and album about it either for yourself or for someone else?

3 Great Scrapbooking Templates - How To Use Them To Emphasize Your Theme

When you're creating a scrapbook, you'll want to use a scrapbooking template that reflects your overall theme. If you're not sure what theme to apply, then here are some ideas that may help you find a ready-made scrapbooking template or create your own.

1. Environmental

Environmental themes are very popular these days. Scrapbooking templates with an environmental theme include natural motifs incorporating plants, animals, and the basic elements - soil, water, and air. They portray the natural beauty of our planet and are perfect when your photos and memorabilia are related to outdoor and environment-related activities. Perfect embellishments for your environmental scrapbooking template could include that small pebble you found at the beach, a dried leaf or twig, or an Earth Day button or decal. This template is a perfect to present your nature trips, safaris, hiking and camping adventures, and wildly successful fishing trips.

2. Technological

Using a technological scrapbooking template are a great way to illustrate the passage of time and how much things have changed. They incorporate images and memorabilia related to any number of technologies - computers, cell phones, microchips, vehicles, space travel, and gadgets. A scrapbook with a technological scrapbooking template is perfect for that techno-geek in the family. It can document his or her evolution through different stages of techno-geekness. Or you can use the technological theme to showcase the houses you've lived in, moving up from a black-and-white portable television to a giant plasma wall-mounted screen. Your technological scrapbooking template will prove how tech-savvy you are and make your friends envy your modern attitude.

3. Athletic

One of the most popular scrapbooking templates reflects sports and fitness. Often selected to document a man's life, it makes a masculine scrapbook free of ribbons and lace. Most sports-oriented scrapbooking templates reflect one of three elements:

Persona - A very popular scrapbooking template, this type of template showcases sports personalities popular to avid fans. You create a scrapbook for your favorite player or team. You can track their career, including photos, newspaper articles, and game reviews. If your man has a favorite sports celebrity, this scrapbooking template will make a great gift that you know he doesn't have.

Team - This sports scrapbooking template can be based on the team's symbol or mascot. You can showcase individual team players and stars. Demonstrating support for your favorite team or college, the team scrapbooking template is embellished with ticket stubs, treasured pieces of uniforms, and a color scheme based on team colors. This scrapbooking template is a great gift for team associations, alumni groups, and school classes.

Equipment - Based on the type of equipment used in sports, your equipment scrapbooking template can be designed around equipment for many sports, relying on the equipment for a more general sports theme, or the equipment for a specific sport with that sport as your focus. Cut-outs and die-cuts in the shape of the equipment makes great frames for photos and documents.

3. Emotional

Scrapbooking templates designed to represent the emotional nature of events rely on color and design to complement your photos and memorabilia and tell the whole story. Wedding-oriented scrapbooks tell a story of love and married life. Career-oriented scrapbooks describe challenges, struggles, and successes. Memorial scrapbooks express grief and sorrow for the loss of a loved one. You illustrate the emotion with color or characters.

Color - Bright and dark colors express different subtle emotional intensities that you can't usually describe with pictures or scrapbook embellishments. And specific colors represent different emotions. Red denotes passion, courage, and action. White denotes innocence, love, and purity. Yellow represents energy and enthusiasm. Blue speaks of inner peace and spiritual love. You can use different shades or saturations of the same color to express different intensity of emotion.

Characters - Using characters is an effective way to express emotions. Facial expression is an easy way to communicate feelings. You can have your characters involved in different activities related to the photos and memorabilia on the page. Complementing your characters with background illustrations is also effective. For example, showing your character taking a walk in the rain could communicate solitude, sorrow, or sadness. Showing the same character on the beach in full sunlight would speak to joy, playfulness, and adventure.

Baby Paper For Scrapbooking

Once you have decided to skip the traditional baby book and create something completely created by yourself, you may be wondering how to find the baby paper for scrapbooking. The fact is you are not the first person to decide you want to create a memorable keepsake for your baby; therefore there are dozens of places to find this type of themed paper and a large variety as well. What is great about scrapbooking today is that the prices have gone done so much that everyone can afford to create something special for their baby and you can find the materials practically anywhere if they have a crafting section to their store.

When you think of baby scrapbook paper, you may picture little pink rabbits, rubber duckies, toys and of course pastel colors. In the scrapbooking world, you have complete creative control over your baby's scrapbook; therefore you are not limited to the traditional and even cliché baby themed papers that exist. You can choose from literally thousands of different themes, patterns and colors for your scrapbook and simply add the baby accessories and decorative pieces later. You will find that the most affordable way to purchase your baby scrapbook paper is to buy it in a scrapbook kit or a book. Many of the craft stores and manufacturers today sell baby themed scrapbook paper in large books of up to 1000 sheets. Some books offer double sided paper, one side color and the other side pattern which allows you to mix and match whenever you want!

You can also choose to buy your baby scrapbook paper separately in packages of 2-5 sheets to allow you to mix and match as you see fit. Maybe at the beginning of your scrapbooking you will want to go with the baby theme paper and then half way through you decide to change to solid color paper or even a different type of pattern, you can. It is completely up to you. The great thing about creating a scrapbook is that not all the pages and layouts have to be the same; you can make each and every page different if you want or you continue through the entire album with the same layout and theme.

You will find that of all your scrapbook materials and accessories, the baby paper for your scrapbook is very important. This component literally creates the atmosphere of the album and that particular page. Once you have decided on the paper you are going to use, the rest of the decorations, accessories and lettering have to match this theme. As you can see your baby paper for scrapbooking is the essential part of your album because everything else you choose to use on that page needs to coordinate. Take the time to layout your page before permanently gluing or taping it down so you can see just how everything looks together when you are done.

Choosing a Scrapbooking Theme

The scrapbooking industry has taken papercrafting to an entirely new level in recent years, and that means there is an amazing amount of tools, papers, textures, and embellishments to choose from.

But all of these choices can make even the most inspired scrapbooking artists feel a bit paralyzed.

It's helpful to choose a theme for your albums and mini albums. Doing so can help you stay focused, and it can help reduce the tendency to buy more products than you'll actually use.

Here are a variety of scrapbooking themes to choose from. Choose one or two themes to work with at any given time, and enjoy the process of preserving your memories for generations to come.

Annual Scrapbooks.

Create one album each year, with one 2-page spread for each month. This is a great way to stay up-to-date, without feeling pressured to scrapbook every photograph.

Significant Life Events.

Of course, you'll want a wedding album, as well as an album spotlighting your other shining moments.

Children.

Have one album going for each child, starting with those first ultrasound photographs. Don't forget to record all of the significant events, including a child's first tooth, first haircut, first day of school, etc.

Sports.

If your child or other family member is particularly interested in sports, have a running sports album going. Include team photos, rosters, and significant achievements. Record your children describing big games in their own words.

The Hero Scrapbook.

This is the place for the certificates, awards, and newspaper clippings for all members of your family. You could also do an album along the theme of "Good Deeds We've Done" and "Things We Are Grateful For."

About Me album.

Imagine the joy of future generations as they learn about your favorite books, recipes, TV shows, hobbies, and - most importantly - your life philosophy. Record all the things that make you, you.

School Years Album.

Create a new layout for each year of school. Ask your children to sign their name each year and include a photo taken on the first and last day of school. Also include a copy of the child's school schedule, a photo of their teacher and significant achievements throughout the school year.

Holidays.

Have an ongoing scrapbook for each holiday celebration. Bring it out with your holiday decorations after Thanksgiving and enjoy adding to it during the festivities. For many families, scrapbooking is a fun family tradition in itself.

Scrapbooking club kits can also help you to work inside themes. Some such clubs send pre-coordinated supplies according to new themes each month, including patterned papers, cardstock, ribbons, journaling prompts, stickers, and other fun embellishments, which provides inspiration for some great projects.

No matter what theme you are currently working on, the key to keeping it fun is to remember that not every photo needs to be scrapbooked. (That's what photo albums are for, after all.) Choose the events and photographs and stories that are particularly significant and enjoy creating lasting memories for generations to come.

Disney Scrapbook Page Ideas

Disney scrapbook page ideas are really popular among little children. There is a wide array of Disney item selections available that are great for scrapbooking. Choosing a Disney theme for your scrapbook creates cute, adorable pages. In fact, there are numerous Disney characters that you can use for your scrapbook pages.

The princess themes are excellent Disney scrapbook page ideas for girls of all ages. Almost every young girl dreams of being a princess, so they love to dress up to look just like one. Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, and Jasmine are princesses that have pictures both together as a group and individually. They are also available in page layouts, stickers, and many others. You can definitely produce charming scrapbook pages for your little girl out of these Disney princess characters.

Another popular Disney character that can be used especially for newborns is Winnie the Pooh and Friends. These lovable pals are ideal Disney scrapbook page ideas for your baby. Pooh, Piglet, and Kanga are perfect for little girls. And a Tigger-themed page is just right for baby boys.

Of course, let us not forget Mickey Mouse himself. Mickey and friends are amazing pals that should be on your scrapbook pages. These versatile characters can actually be used in any type of themes as well as page layouts. If you and your kids are Disney fans, then let your scrapbook show that side of you. Gather all your Disney scrapbooking materials and start decorating your page layouts. Your older children may also participate on the project, which makes the scrapbook even more meaningful.

Include your trip to Disneyland in your scrapbooks as well. You can make a separate scrapbook that is all about Disney and another one with a Disney theme. Children love Disney and taking them to a Disney theme park would be really fun and exciting. This is an experience that they will remember for a very long time. If you intend to make a scrapbook from this Disney adventure, then plan in advance. List everything that you want to include in your Disney scrapbook so as not to miss anything. You will definitely want to take photos of every character that you see. It would be better if you get the kids or the whole family in the pictures too.

There are many artists in the park of Disneyland that you can pay to draw your portrait. Take your scrapbook pages with you and ask the artist to use them instead of using their standard paper in sketching. This way, you won't have to crop the paper to make it fit in your scrapbooking layout. Take several pages so that all family members will have a chance to have their portrait sketched.

Disneyland has so much to offer. With all the fun activities and souvenirs, there will be no problem completing the Disney scrapbook page ideas. Creating this particular scrapbook about the Disney World adventure or even a Disney theme scrapbook alone is surely a fantastic way of recording special events. A book that contains joy and laughter that the family can look at again and again.

So Many Scrapbooking Album Themes To Choose From

Most beginners start their first scrapbook as a chronological album. They have sorted their photos according to date, and start scrapbooking each event in order. However, there are so many other scrapbooking album themes you could use. Don't limit yourself to just a chronological album. A themed album centered on one topic can inspire you and create a wonderful keepsake for years to come. Scrapbook album themes are nearly limitless when you consider all the topics available to choose from. You could create an album on something as universal as a wedding album, or you could get even more specific to your life and create one centered on a family member, such as, your mother or grandmother. Let's look at a few of the more common album themes.

Chronological Album

This is by far the most common theme for scrapbooks. Each page focuses on the photos from a specific date or event, and the album usually progresses from earliest dates to later dates. The tendency to start with older photos when scrapbooking comes from seeing all those old photos and realizing how overdue they are to be placed in an album. However, choosing to scrapbook with your most recent photos first and work your way back in time has a distinct advantage. These memories are the freshest in your mind. The older photos get the more likely you have already forgotten details about the event. In addition, working from your most recent photos gives the feeling of being up-to-date. You can work your way back through the old photos when you have time, but the most current photos continue to be placed in your album without creating an additional backlog.

Baby Album

It's surprising how many scrapbookers first start scrapbooking as a hobby when they have their first baby. Following a baby's development with photos is a natural thing to do. The photos start stacking up, and you realize that putting them in a photo-safe album is the best way to preserve those memories. A baby album can also be a chronological album. You might start from pregnancy and birth and then baby's progress from month to month. However, you could also make a baby album of all baby's firsts. Baby's first smile, baby's first word and baby's first step are just a few ideas.

Wedding Album

Photographs are an important part of any wedding. You have the professional photographs, as well as those taken by guests. A wedding is such a significant event in our lives. Even though it lasts for only a day, we want to preserve those memories for a lifetime. An album theme for a wedding is often more elegantly embellished than other albums. You might consider making a more casual and personal wedding scrapbook, include your own thoughts and feelings about the day. Scrapbook a page about your favorite moment during the wedding, and don't forget to include those things that were unplanned as well.

Holiday Album

Holidays are great photo opportunities. We gather together with family and friends to celebrate and taking pictures is always a part of the festivities. The more common holiday albums are Christmas and Halloween. However, maybe you have a family reunion every Fourth of July and want to create a photo album specifically for those photos.

School Days Album

An album that follows your child through his school years is really just a more focused chronological album. However, it is unique in that it often holds more memorabilia than most albums. They include art projects, essays, report cards and other mementos from each school year. You can have a school days album for each of your children.

Heritage Album

All scrapbooks are really heritage albums. When the scrapbook is made of archival-safe materials, it preserves your memories for future generations. However, heritage albums usually refer to scrapbooks made from very old photos. You might have photos of your great grandmother or your grandmother's baby pictures. Having these photos all in one album can be a wonderful conversation piece when family visits. Remember to ask your family to contribute to the journaling in a heritage album so as many memories as possible are documented.

These are just a few ideas for album themes. Begin to think about your photos and reoccurring themes in your pages. Has your teenager son played hockey since he was seven? You might create a hockey album specifically for his team photos and his progress in the sport. Did you take a trip to Europe this year? The number of photos taken on a vacation can easily fill an album.

Working on a scrapbook album theme allows you to choose which album and photos you want to work on today. You aren't limiting yourself to working in a chronological order. You might want to scrap your daughter's first smile in a baby album or maybe you want to scrap her first day of kindergarten in school days album. There are no rules to follow. Themed scrapbooks can be completed at one time, like your vacation to Hawaii album, or they can be an ongoing album like a Christmas album. Think about what kind of album theme fits into your life, and start scrapbooking outside the chronological limits.
